Keeping Your Family Comfortable For Over 75 Years

As the leading heating company in Louisville, KY, we know there’s nothing worse than turning on your heat during the cold winter weather to learn that your heater is not working. We have decades of experience dealing with heating repairs on all types of heating equipment in both residential and commercial settings. When it comes time to repair or replace your furnace, how do you know which heating system is right for you?

Your furnace or heating system is a major component of the comfort of your home, so it's important that you choose the system that is best for you. At Prudential, we offer several types of heating systems. Our expert technicians will take the time to listen to your needs and walk you through which option is best for your home.

Furnaces

Furnaces work by heating air and pushing it through your home or business’s duct system. Colder air is cycled into the return ducts where it is heated by the furnace and pushed into your home. This cycle continues until the interior temperature of the home reaches the thermostat setting. Natural gas is the most common type of furnace, followed by those that run on electricity, propane, or oil.

Heat Pumps

A heat pump works like an air conditioner, but in reverse. It uses the heat from outside air, even when it’s cold outside, to heat your home. Heat pumps are an efficient alternative to gas furnaces to provide the primary source of heat for your home.

Mini-Split Systems

Mini-split systems are a great solution for room additions, bonus rooms, garages, master bedrooms or areas of your home where you can’t get duct work. Instead of relying on a central indoor unit, ductless mini-split systems work as single-room units, using their own thermostat and controls to heat or cool the room. Ductless mini-splits also come in a variety of styles for every home, including wall-mounted, ceiling, and floor-mounted units. They are highly efficient, very quiet and even qualify for tax credits in many cases.

Hybrid Dual Fuel

A hybrid heating system combines a gas furnace with an electric heat pump. During more moderate months, the system uses the heat pump to both heat and cool your home. When it gets cool enough outside that the heat pump cannot keep up, the system automatically switches to the gas furnace for heat. This improves efficiency while still keeping your home comfortable year-round.

Is Your Heater Not Working?

When your heat is not kicking on, there could be a variety of reasons why your heater stopped working. If you notice any of these top indicators that your heating system needs repair, call our team at Prudential. We’ll get to work quickly and efficiently before the issue gets worse, bringing you comfort and peace of mind.

Poor Maintenance

Lack of proper maintenance is often one of the top reasons your heater is not working. From dirty air filters to infrequent tunings, there are many things that can go wrong when your heater is not regularly maintained. Dirty air filters, flame sensors, burners, or blowers can make it difficult for your heating system to work properly and at peak efficiency. With regular maintenance, you can keep your furnace working better for longer.

Dirty Air Filter

If your heater is not working, dirty air filters are one of the most common problems. When your heater’s filter is clogged, it takes more effort for your heating system to circulate air around your home, reducing efficiency and negatively affecting the airflow throughout your home. Filters naturally become clogged as debris builds up in them, making it essential to have your filters replaced regularly. It is also a good practice to have your system checked by an HVAC professional to ensure there is no buildup that can decrease the efficiency or reliability of your system.

Unresponsive Thermostat

If your heating system is shutting off prematurely or operates inconsistently, it may be your thermostat. If thermostats are set incorrectly or are unable to detect the accurate temperature, they may shut off before your home or business reaches your preferred comfort level. If this is the case, we will recalibrate your old thermostat or install a new one.

Outdated System

If your heater is not working like it used to, it may be time to replace. Though replacing your heating system can be a big decision, there are a few signs that will let you know the time has come. From increasing energy bills and humidity problems to excessive dust, dander, and dirt building up within your home, an old heating system can bring a lot of discomforts. If you begin to notice uneven heating, unusual rattling noises, or increasingly frequent repairs, it may be time to consider replacing your heating system.
